Crime: New NSCDC Commandant seeks media support in Osun


The new commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Osun State, AbdulKadir Sulu, has urged journalists in the state to support his command in exposing crimes and criminals. 


Sulu succeeded Mr. Oguntuase Adeyinka Kingsley who retired in October. 

Speaking at a media parley with leaderships of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Osogbo, Sulu urged the press not to relent in exposing crimes in the community. 


He commended journalists for promoting unity and sustaining democracy, noting that the role of the press can not be overemphasized in the country. 


The commandant who urged the press to always call attention of his command to any vandal and other related crimes, promised to cooperate with newsmen in other to discharge their duties successfully. 


He appealed to newsmen to always verify their stories so as to avoid creating unnecessary tension which may lead to cataclysmic reactions. 


The Chairman of NUJ, Osun council, Mr Wasiu Ajadosu, and the Chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ, Mr Tunji Omofoye, assured the commandant that necessary support would be given to him without prejudice to fear and balance reportage.
