Covid-19: VSF donates palliatives to Kaduna

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) Task Force on Covid-19 on Tuesday donated palliatives ranging from food, Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) and drugs to Kaduna state government and Civil Society Organization (CSOs) in the state.


The donated items include 10kg Rice (6,688 bags), 10kg Maize (6,688) 10Kg beans (6,688) 4ltrs vegetable oil (6,688) 2kg Salt (6,688) 250ml hand sanitizers (10,000) standard surgical face masks (5,000), Reusable face masks (20,000), Hamzat suit (1,174), 1,174 goggles, 1,174 safety boots and 1,174 latex gloves all amounting to N130, 384,722.
Handing over the donated items to the state government to be shared equally with VSF partnering CSO, Chairperson of the VSF Task Force Team, Barr. Mrs. Toyosi Akinrele, said  the task force on Covid-19 is an emergency response team inaugurated by VSF Chairman, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) to provide palliative measures to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) the vulnerable and less privilege.


She said they were to also provide institutional support to government agencies in supporting the national fight against Covid-19. “The VSF Covid-19 Task Force in continuation of it’s mandate will distribute rice, beans, maize, vegetable oil, salt and PPEs to 40,886 households and approximately 204,330 direct beneficiaries across Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger, Plateau, Benue and agencies in the FCT.
Toyosi stressed that the state governments will receive 50% of the palliatives while CSO will distribute 50% directly to IDPs and vulnerable people.


She said that the task force is also working closely with Federal and state government agents involved in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic through collaboration with the National Commission for Refugee Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) to targeted IDPs and Refugees with hygiene kits, children’s blankets and food items and the National Council of Women’s Society (NCWS) to target vulnerable women.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Kaduna state government, the Commissioner Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, commended the donors and assured that the donated items would be judiciously distributed to the targeted beneficiaries accordingly.
