Court victory against Hembe: Alia urges aggrieved members to sheath swords

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for 2023 general elections in Benue, Rev. Hyacinth Alia, Tuesday, called on all aggrieved members of the party contesting his emergence as the candidate to sheath their swords and join hands with him to achieve victory at the election and make Benue a better place.

He made the appeal while reacting to the ruling on the case filed by the governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), Iorwase Herman Hembe, who contested the guber primaries with him in APC.

Hembe, a member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/ Konshisha federal constituency, had approached the Federal High Court, Makurdi, seeking the court to declare that the votes allocated to him in the gubernatorial primaries of the APC held on May 27, 2022, and the rerun primaries held on June 8, 2022, were null and void, and of no effect whatsoever.

In its judgment, Justice Abdul Dogo of the Federal High Court dismissed the case saying that it lacked merit.
