A Customary Court in Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti state, has dissolved the 22-year-old union between Dupe Adetiba and her husband, Dele Adetiba.
The court president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, while delivering the judgment, stated that it was obvious that their relationship was irredeemable.
“The current state of the plaintiff, that is the wife, who is carrying another man’s pregnancy shows that the love between them has gone sour. This association is hereby dissolved as prayed by the plaintiff,” she ruled.

Mrs Ojo awarded custody of the only female child in the marriage to the mother, just as she ordered that the defendant pay N5000 monthly for the upkeep of the girl-child and both parties to contribute towards the training of their children.
The mother of one had sought the dissolution of her marriage to her husband who is a prophet, on the grounds that he refused to pay her dowry and neglected her and the children.

The husband, in his defense, stated that though he did not pay dowry on his wife, he took proper care of her and their children.
He said that his wife sought for divorce because of her waywardness, stating: “Whenever I scolded my two sons for their bad behaviour, my wife would always support them instead of joining hands with me to train them. I pray the court to award custody of my only girl child to me because I do not want her to end up being wayward like her mother.”
