Coronavirus: Anambra Assembly shuts down indefinitely, lawmakers embark on sensitisation

The Anambra State House of Assembly, Wednesday, announced indefinite suspension of its legislative activities pending when the ravaging coronavirus would have been contained in the country.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, who disclosed this in a press briefing at the end of their executive session, said the decision was in line with the directive of governor  Willie Obiano, who had shutdown civil service, public gatherings and others due to COVID-19.

He implored Anambra residents to strictly adhere to the governor’s directive, which according to him, was not only to the best interest of the citizens but geared towards preventing the pandemic from gaining entrance into the state.

“We will during this period embark on sensitisation tours of our various constituencies to engage our constituents on dangers of corona and safety measures to adopt to prevent it from our state or spreading to other part of the country,” the Speaker added.
