Constituency projects: Lawmaker distributes delivery packs to 4,000 women in Kano

Member representing Warawa/Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency  Mustapha Bala Dawaki has described the workings of a legislature as a catalyst towards promoting the nascent democratic system  in  the country.

Speaking at the presentation of Safe Delivery Package to 4,000 women,  comprising  2,000 pregnant women and 2,000 nursing mothers, held at the secretariat of Dawakin Kudu local government, Tuesday,  Dawaki said the gesture was conceived to ginger the confidence of pregnant and nursing mothers for safe delivery.

Dawaki,  who was represented by Alhaji Kassim Bako pointed out that, no promising democratic system in the country could ever be realistic without the legislators  fulfilling their obligations, stressing that on coming on board, he had effected giant strides that would have direct impact on his people.

While calling on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the laudable gesture, the legislature further revealed that he would strive to maintain the tempo of an effective and adequate representation at the National Assembly for his constituents to have a taste of the much pronounced dividend of democracy.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Prof. Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe said distributing the kits to the beneficiaries was meant to ensure their safety in times of labour and after giving birth to a child, affirming that their safety was a great responsibility that has become imperative

He said: “We have assembled here to inject succour into your minds, for you to be assured that the person who spearheaded this laudable effort, cares for your safety. As pregnant and as well as nursing mothers, you all deserved pity and compassion. What is needed from you is to reciprocate the gesture.

“You are all expected to make a good use of this package for the purpose it was given. It was not meant for you people to go and dispose it off in the market. You are all responsible people, “he added.
