Cleric arrested for impregnating member’s daughter

A pastor with an orthodox church in Itaaka Abeokuta, Dr. Michael Adeniran, has been arrested by the police in Ogun state for allegedly impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
It was gathered that the victim who is in Senior Secondary 2 is a ward of a members of the church the suspect ministers, even as her guardian is reportedly involved with the cleric.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), said the cleric was arrested on Saturday, following a complaint from the girl’s mother, who is allegedly the suspect’s lover, and a member of the church.
He said trouble started when the complainant noticed that her daughter was pregnant and mounted pressure on her to disclose who is responsible for the pregnancy.

According to him, the mother reported her findings to the police, accusing the cleric of impregnating her daughter at Adigbe Police Division, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
He said the victim told the police that the suspect lured her into his car on the day she marked her birthday and forcefully had canal knowledge of her, and had subsequently been having sex with her.
Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the transfer of the case to Anti- Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
“The CP also reiterated his earlier warning to parents to always be watchful of their children in order to prevent them from becoming victims in the hands of people with devilish intention,” Oyeyemi said.
He said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.
