Cash crunch: Sardauna Forum spokesman hails Customs CG Ali on revenue drive

Spokesman of Sardauna Forum of Nigeria, High Chief Enoch N. Fada (Sardauna Koro Babba) has hailed the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col Hameed Ali (retd.) for his commitment towards boosting the revenue profile of the Service in the face of dwindling oil revenues.

Dr Fada, who addressed journalists on critical national issues on the sideline of the conferment of Order 101 Peace award by a group known as Peace Order of Niger Benue Area (PONBA) in Abuja recently also said, “the deployment of technology and scaling up of data usage in the NCS operations is very apt and commendable.”

According to him, “Hameed Ali has not only improved the revenue profile of the NCS but set a precedent for other revenue generating agencies to emulate,” adding that the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) recently conferred on the Comptroller General underlines the level of respect President Muhammadu Buhari has for the NCS CG.

He said he was particularly impressed with the realisation of N2.14 trillion within 10 months in 2022.

It would be recalled that Hamid Ali who recently disclosed the agency’s revenue performance at ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Communication Team at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja pointed out that “we have moved our revenue from N876 billion to N2.14 trillion as at today.

“We are pushing to achieve N3.019 trillion target by the end of the year, in 2022. But in the worst case scenario, we will hit nothing less than N2.5 trillion at the end of the year,” he stated.
