Buhari orders investigation into Jos gas explosion

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday ordered investigation into the weekend chlorine gas explosion in Jos, Plateau state, in which many people were killed and more injured.

In a message of commiseration to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Plateau state over the incident, Buhari said a full-scale investigation into the incident was necessary to avoid recurrence.
“The investigation should unravel the facts as to whether this was just an accident. Whatever is the case, we need to get to the bottom this unfortunate and tragic incident,” the President said.
The President prayed that Allah should grant the souls of those who lost their lives in the explosion peaceful repose and grant a quick recovery to those who were injured in the terrible tragedy.

While reacting to the Doctors’ claims, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Abdulmajid Umar Daura pleaded with them to understand the financial situation of the hospital and the country at large.
Daura said, currently, the hospital had no money to settle their entitlements and called on the striking doctors to resume work for the interest of the state and the nation, saying the center lost N30 million revenue as a result of the strike.
