Buhari approves new appointments in NCC, NITDA, NIPOST, others


President Muhammadu Buhari Monday approved new appointments in five agencies under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The president approved the appointment of Professor Adeolu Akande (South West) to replace Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye as chairman of Board of Commissioners of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) subject to Senate confirmation.


The president also approved the appointment of Mr Uche Onwude (South East) Non-Executive Commissioner to replace Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume.

Also appointed is Dr Abubakar Sa’id to replace Prof Adeolu Akande as board chairman of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).Other members of the board are Dr Habibu Ahmed Imam (North West) who replaced Dr Lawal Bello Moriki (North West) and Dr Mohammed Sa’idu Kumo.

The president also approved the appointment of Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi (South West) as the Postmaster General/CEO o the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).Dr Adewusi (South West) replaced Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi (South West).The president also appointed Professor Muhammed Bello Abubakar as head of the Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB) to replace Mr Yusuf Kazaure.


Also appointed are Mr Yusuf Kazaure as the chairman of the board of Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) replacing Chief Dr George Nnadubem Moghalu, and Dr Najeem Salam replacing Mr Samson Osagie as Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development.

Others are Professor Abdu Ja’afaru Bambale who replaced Kazeem Kolawole Raji as Executive Director, Technical Services; and Mr Hadi Mohammed who replaced Mohammed Lema Abubakar as Executive Director, Administration
