Breaking: Lalong presents N172.5bn as 2020 budget

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state, Tuesday, presented N172.5 billion budget proposal for the 2020 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The governor who tagged the proposal “Budget of rescue and infrastructural consolidation” has an increase of N19.5 billion against the N153.5 billion of the 2019 fiscal year.

Lalong said the 2020 fiscal year proposal has N71.2bn for the recurrent expenditure while the sum of N98.1bn is for capital expenditure.

According to him, the 2019 budget captured the issue of the new minimum wage, adding that his government was doing everything possible towards its implementaion.

He urged the House to speedily do justice to the budget proposal and give it a passage.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Abok Nuhu, assured the governor that the House would immediately swing into action, “to ensure quick passage of the proposal,” adding that they will subject it to thorough scrutiny.

Hon. Nuhu urged Lalong to consider presenting the 2021 proposal by September 2020.
