Breaking – Anambra FA election: Uncertainty as Congress rejects appeal c’tte decision

The Congress of Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) board and Local Football Council (LFC) have nullified the decision of the appeal committee filed by aggrieved candidates after the elections of ANSFA and LFC held on October 29 and 30, 2020.

Mr Chikelue Iloenyosi, a sole Chairmanship contestant of State FA unanimously rejected by delegates, had appealed the election outcome and the appeal committee ruled among other things that a rerun should be conducted within two weeks.

But the congress in a communique issued at the end of an extraordinary General Assembly held in Awka, the state capital, said they were nullifying the appeal committee decision on basis of non evidence of payment of appeal fee in violation of Article 33 (4) of the Anambra state football statutes.

The congress, presided over by Engr. Victor Aniekwena, Vice Chairman of the board and attended by 20 out of 23 members, equally ratified the FA board and LFC elections, as well as commended the electoral committee.

They, however, resolved to conduct a bye election to fill the vacant positions in the Anambra state football association board and the local football council in February 2021.

They also passed a vote of confidence on the Anambra state football association board led by Vice Chairman, Engr. Victor Aniekwena.

Blueprint recalls that ANSFA election failed to produce FA Chairman as the sole candidate (Iloenyosi) scored only one out of 20 votes cast, just as LFC elections failed to produce Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and members into some local football councils.
