Boko Haram: Osinbajo orders return of command centre in Maiduguri

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has ordered the return of Military Command Centre (MCC) in Maiduguri, Borno state, in order to checkmate the activities of Book Haram. Osinbajo gave the directive at a close-door meeting with Service Chiefs, shortly after his return from Port Harcourt, where he inaugurated a new world-class fertilizer plant built by Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited. Th ose in attendance were the Minister of Defence, Mr. Mansur Dan-Ali; Chief of Defence Staff , General Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff , Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai,; Chief of Naval Staff , Vice Admiral Ekwe IteIbas; and Chief of Air Staff , Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.

Speaking with State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, Minister of Defence, Mr. Mansur Dan-Ali, said the meeting agreed on the need for the procurement of more surveillance devices. “We just fi nished a meeting with the Acting President and the three Service Chiefs. We agreed that they should move back to the Command Centre again and see what are the things happening there.

“We have also agreed that we should get more surveillance devices, cameras that will be able to see distant attackers coming to the position of our troops. Also the period of the raining season is a diffi cult moment for us. “We cannot dominate the environment like what we do during the dry season but eff ort is geared towards the regaining back our areas and we assure that all these ambushes that are happening regularly would be stopped,” he said.
