Betara Aliyu deserves re-election

As the 2023 general elections draw nearer it is becoming obvious that some lawmakers will not return to their seats at the National Assembly. This is mostly because of their dismal performance.

While some of them lost their primary elections, others may not return because they have disappointed the people of their constituencies over the years. Lawmakers in this group are many and it affects both chambers of the National Assembly.

However, one lawmaker whose constituents have unanimously expressed their desire to re-elect next year is Mohammed Muktar Betara Aliyu, representing the Biu-Hawul/Kwayakusar federal constituency in Borno state at the House of Representatives. Aliyu has really paid his dues.

Apart from his numerous contributions at the assembly, various committee works and other adhoc responsibilities, he has successfully distinguished himself in his assignment as the chairman, House Committee on Appropriation.

He has been diligent and consistent in discharging his assignments as the chairman of the committee to the extent that the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, recently described him as one of the pillars of the house.

Gbajabiamila is also very happy with the way and manner Aliyu has been carrying out all assignments given to him since he became a lawmaker. In fact, the whole House has on several occasions commended his work on the federal government budgets.

Information has it that it was because of Betara Aliyu’s dedication
and hardwork that President Muhammadu Buhari, not long ago,
conferred on him the prestigious national award in Abuja. Betara Aliyu
has also succeeded in providing dividends of democracy for his people.

Besides effectively supervising his constituency projects, he has personally funded projects like schools, health centers, culverts, entrepreneurship materials including sewing machines and cloths-making for the youth and women. He has provided some youths with motorcycles and even motor vehicles to enable them fend for
themselves instead of relying on other people.

Another issue which has endeared Aliyu to his people is his efforts in providing them jobs and education. He has empowered many of them to be self-employed and even employ others. But more than any other thing Betara Aliyu has been assisting his people to expand their farm projects thereby enabling
them to produce their own food and to develop agriculture, being agrarian community.

Flowing from the foregoing and several other reasons, his people have with one voice declared that they will re-elect Betara Aliyu to continue his good representation at the National Assembly, having empowered his people and brought tremendous development to
his constituency and the entire state.
