Parents and sympathisers were yesterday thrown into deep mourning as honey bees stung to death two brothers in Kaduna state.
The incident occurred in Kurmin Idon village located in Kajuru local government area of the state.
Blueprint gathered that the children, out of ignorance, decided to engage the bees in a play as they had thought they were harmless, when the bees rounded them up and stung them.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Everton Yari, who hailed from the community, confirmed their death to our reporter in Kaduna.
According to him, the children were aged between five and seven.
He said: “I just want to let you know that honey bee sting apart from pain can kill; therefore, we are appealing to our populace to avoid bee sting by all means. I just returned from my hometown where I from condoled with a family who lost two little sweet Kids, aged seven and five years old to honey bee sting. My insides were rendered when I listened to the sad story as told to me by the tearful mom and dad and mourners. Such innocent kids teasing a beehive without the faintest idea that it was a very dangerous thing to.
Please kindly say a prayer to God to console the parents. As a father, I couldn’t control my emotions.”
“The children are Titus and Samson, all children of Mr. and Mrs. Yakubu Maijama’a in our community, Kurmin Idon of Kajuru local government area. This is a sad story, but we have left everything to the Almighty God who knows better than we do.”
