Bauchi specialist hospital for commissioning in November

The new Bauchi State Specialists’ Hospital, currently under construction, would be commissioned before December, this year, to replace the former one that was handed over to the federal government to serve as university teaching hospital.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday, a politician, Alhaji Danladi O.C. Kwano, who disclosed this, said the project “has now reached 70 per cent completion.”

According to him, if the hospital begins operation, it will not only complement the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), it will also provide better health care delivery services to the people.
According to him, its charges will be cheaper even as feeding and laundry services will be provided free-of-charge to the patients.
He commended Governor Isa Yuguda for the provision of free treatments to patients with leprosy, diabetes and kidney diseases, saying that “such is the democracy dividend the electorate demand.”

Kwano, the chairman of the social group, Bauchi Volunteers Forum, said the administration would be remembered for the provision of new general hospitals in the 20 local governments in the state and the over 230 dispensaries in various communities.
“What is more interesting is that in each local government at least three general hospitals have been built by the government. For instance, there are three hospitals in Bauchi, Alkaleri, Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Toro, Kirfi and Bogoro local government areas.”
Blueprint gathered that since the handing over of the former specialists’ hospital to the federal government, there was agitation for the establishment of a new one in the state to replace it.
