Bauchi NUJ advisory committee passes confidence vote on exco

The Advisory Committee of the Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the state council of the union headed by Comrade Umar Sa’idu.

The members of the NUJ Advisory Committee which comprised former council chairmen led by its chairman, Ibrahim Idris Shall, former MD of the state-owned television station, commended the leadership of the council during a meeting with the members of the NUJ State Working Committee.

The former chairmen commended the leadership of the union for “its consistency in the conduct of congress meetings, organising regular training for journalists in the state and maintaining peace in the union.”

Shall said for the first time the former chairmen were made relevant in the activities of the union by the present leadership, adding that the Council “requires another term to better serve journalists.”

He noted that in the past, veterans were invited only during election period, but the “present council has greatly involved veterans and media chief executives in its programmes.”

Speaking earlier, Comrade Sa’idu thanked the members of the Advisory Council for supporting the “present council in organising a series of activities for the union.”

According to him, the former chairmen and other stakeholders have played a vital role towards the successes recorded in the Council.
