FCC slams group over attack on executive chair

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has described as ‘fake’ a statement by Lygel Youths and Leadership initiatives Limited published by an online medium gazellenews.com that the executive chairman of the Commission, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, was enmeshed in identity falsification scandal which was threatening the integrity of the Commission.

A statement issued Friday by FCC’s director, public affairs & communication, Dr. Chuks Okoli, indicated that the publication was meant to denigrate the FCC boss.

According to the statement, the claim relied on fake sources to allege that the FCC boss was not only having issues with her identity, but also had glaring discrepancies in her credentials.

The statement read in part, “We hereby condemn the publications and describe it as false, mischievous, fake and sacrilegious. The publication was meant to denigrate the executive chairman, Federal Character Commission, and the publishers are enemies of Nigeria. The alleged information by Lygel Youths and Leadership Initiatives Limited was false and aimed at tarnishing the image of the executive chairman and the Commission as a whole.

“Contrary to the alleged certificate discrepancies, our record, which is available for inspection, shows that Dr. Muheeba Dankaka didn’t go to school abroad, but Bayero University, Kano, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she obtained her certificates. This present malicious attempt by some individuals to tarnish the image of the executive chairman, Federal Character Commission, after they had made several failed attempts in the past, is uncalled for.

“We would like to assure members of the public, especially the media, that the executive chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, is not distracted in any way, despite all their distractions, she has remained resolute in ensuring that the mandate of the Commission is achieved, which is presently yielding positive results for the betterment of the country.”
