Bauchi govt reconnects NYSC camp to national grid

The Bauchi state government has reconnected the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa local government area of the state to national grid.

Our correspondent reports that the camp has over the years been using generators for light due to the vandalisation of the electric cables in the camp as a result of windstorm.

NYSC officials in the state said they spent much money in fuelling the generators to provide light to the members during the previous orientation exercises.

Speaking Thursday at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Batch ‘A’ corps members deployed to the state, the state governor, Bala Mohammed, said his administration upon assumption of office directed the immediate reconnection of the camp to the national grid.

Represented by the state Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Adamu Manu Soro, the governor said the project has been completed adding that light has now been restored to the place.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to the enhancement of infrastructures in the camp and enjoined the scheme and corps members to reciprocate the gesture by contributing effectively to the implementation of programs and policies of government.

“Let me again assure the managers of the scheme of our total commitment to the NYSC through the continuous moral and financial support, which I strongly believe by doing so, the scheme will be gingered towards the realisation of its noble objectives,” the governor said.

In his address earlier, the state NYSC coordinator, Namadi Abubakar, said that at the close of registration, a total of 1, 627 corps members comprising 798 males and 829 females were registered in the state.
