Former Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed speculations surrounding his alleged intention to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This clarification comes after Wike, alongside Seyi Makinde and James Ibori, held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday.
The purpose of the meeting was to express their support for Tinubu, who assumed office as the President of Nigeria four days prior.
Wike, a prominent member of the PDP, refuted claims that his potential switch to the APC was on the agenda during the meeting.
Speaking while briefing the press at the state house on Saturday, Wike said that his visit was to pay solidarity to Tinubu.
‘ No plans. Nothing like that in the offing.
“We are Nigerians and we have come to give the president support.
“That is what is required. There is no big deal about that.”
