Assistant murders church pastor in Osun

A Presiding Priest of the Celestial Church of Christ at Omitoto, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Evangelist Moris Fadehan, was allegedly murdered by his assistant, Lekan Ogundipe.

Findings showed that the incident happened on Monday February 26, 2024 and the suspect has been arrested by the police.

A woman who simply identified herself as Mummy Ewa, narrated how the suspect allegedly harassed her when he came to the church around 8:49 am on Thursday.

She said she was sweeping the church when Ogundipe came and greeted her, saying, “I asked him not to greet me again because I was not happy when I heard that he told people that we had affairs.

“He said he would greet me and I must answer her. He took a cane and started beating me and I held his clothes on the neck. He bit me in the hand.

“On Monday afternoon, Daddy (the deceased) called me that he didn’t see me and I said I was weak. Some hours after I left the church, Baba Olafare called me that Lekan told him that he saw fire on the Evangelist’s body and asked me to rush to the church. When I got to the church, I found Evangelist on the ground.”

A member of the church whose name was not ascertained as of press time, said, “I saw blood on his body and sign of nail on his face. He wrapped his hand with clothes and we saw a stain of blood. He was the only person in the church. That is why we didn’t allow him to go and called the police to arrest him.”

The spokesperson of the police, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

She said the suspect has been arrested and the corpse of the Evangelist has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy because of bruises noticed on his body.
