Kaduna: Police foil terrorists’ kidnap attempt, recover AK-47 rifle

 

Operatives of Kaduna state Police Command have foiled an attempt by bandits to kidnap motorists along the Tumburku – Galadimawa road, while recovering an AK-47 rifle, three magazines of ammunition and two Bajaj operational motorcycles. 

The Kaduna state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, said many of the terrorist gangs left the scene of the gun duel with bullet wounds following the hot exchange of fireworks between them and the police operatives. 

He said, “the incident which occurred at about 0730 hours of 15th February, 2024 had the bandits in large number blocked the Tumburku – Galadimawa road and were indiscriminately shooting in attempt to kidnap motorists.

“The daunting situation drew the attention of the operatives of the Nigeria Police which responded to a clarion call to action that resulted in a fierce gun duel with the bandits who succumbed to the Ooeratives’ superior tactics and retreated into the nearby bush with many having bullet wounds.

“Subsequently, the Police Officers combed and recovered from the scene of the cross fire an AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 magazines, five rounds of 7.62 x 39mm live ammunition, a Techno mobile phone and two Bajaj make motorcycles. Order has since been restored in the said area as patrol is being intensified.”

Following the foiling of the bandits’ kidnapping attempt and recovery of rifle and ammunition by the command’s operatives, “the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command, CP Dabigi Ali, has stressed that criminal elements will have no breeding ground in the state. CP Ali thus, hailed the bravery of the  operatives and tasked them to raise the stakes in the fight against banditry in the state. 

“He again asked the public to always avail the Police with useful information in order to make the highways safe. Members of the public in that axis are equally advised to be on the lookout for any suspicious character nursing gunshot injury and report same to the nearest Police outfit.”
