Assist Buhari on devt, Emir tells appointees

The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq has alleged that despite being in the constituency of President Muhammadu Buhari, his people are not getting enough from the centre.
The emir stated this when the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe paid him a courtesy call in his pal- ace yesterday in Daura.
He Emir said that the president, going by his maturity and training will never influence the setting up of any project in his constituency, but tasked his appointees to take the initiative of bringing projects to Daura.
He said: “You, as beneficiaries of the president’s appointment must assist his constituency by bringing projects.
If you failed to do so, you have betrayed the president and his people,” he added.
The emir called on the minister to replicate the Kebbi rice initiatives in Katsina state, disclosing that the state has a lot of dams where rice could be cultivated.
According to him, “ in Katsina we have Sable, Daberam, Zone, Jib- ia and Mairuwa dams where large quantity of rice can be harvested.
We also need rice mills”.
He similarly urged the minister to release food for his emirate and issue loans to save people from hunger and starvation.
In his response, the minister, Chief Audu Ogbe disclosed that his ministry has planned tomatoe farming initiatives that would involve 6,000 farmers in Katsina state.
He added that the ministry would construct rural roads across Katsina state to make farmers have access to markets.
