Army deploys troops for Operation Last Hold

The Nigerian Army says its has deployed troops and hardwares to commence operation Last Hold aimed to achieve total defeat of terrorists and further fast track North-east economy Army spokesperson, Brig. Gen.
Texas Chukwu said in a statement that already some troops were already on ground, while additional troops are now deployed to boost the operation. Operation Last Hold is expected to last four four months, according to Chief of Operations (Army) Maj. Gen. David. Ahmadu in an earlier press conference. Chukwu said operation which is being led by Maj. Gen. Abba Dikko, as additional 4 manoeuvre brigades.
“The senior officer is already on ground coordinating the movement of troops and equipment,” Chukwu said. He advise the public, particularly residents around troops’ staging areas and environs not to panic about mass movement of troops and equipment as their safety is guaranteed. “The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate its loyalty and subordination to the civil authority at all times while carrying out its constitutional roles,” he said.
