Anti-cult police clamp down on cultists, sponsors

The Rivers State Police Command has Anti-cult unit has begun a clamp down on cultists as well as their patrons and sponsors.
Commissioner of Police (CP) for the state, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, disclosed this, weekend while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt.
Ogunsakin said cultists and their sponsors have no hiding place in Rivers state as must have been identified by the recently set up Anti-Cultism Unit, even as he urged them to denounce their membership of such cults and join hands with government to move the state forward.

The Police boss stated that Section 8 [1] of the Secret Cult and similar activities Prohibition Law No. 6 of 2004, Rivers State makes provision for thise who decide to renounce their membership.
It states, “Any member of a secret cult who voluntarily renounces his membership of the cult and submits any offensive weapon in his possession to the Police shall be free prosecution under the law.”
