Anti-Corruption: World legends to battle Nigeria Stars in December

World football legends are to storm Nigeria in December for a match against Nigeria former internationals and entertainment stars to battle against corruption in the country.
The match organisers,Chief Alex Ajipe of Klick Konnect Networks Int’l Limited and Canada based, Abi Goodman of Oz Consulting firm in a press release said the event which is expected to hold in Abuja on December 8, will see the world legends tackling the Nigeria team made up of former international and top entertainment stars kicking out the cancerous endemic called corruption in the country.
The match tagged “Match Against Corruption” is expected to hold at the Abuja National Stadium The match is part of the effort to use the game to help draw the attention of Anti-Corruption: World legends to battle Nigeria Stars in December the negative effects of corruption on the society and the need to fight it head long, said Ms.
Abi Goodman, the organization secretary.
The Nigeria team will be managed by former Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Bonfrere Jo.
According to Goodman, who is also the Chief Executive officer,of the Canada based non governmental organisation, the effort is to use the match to invoke the total commitment to eradicate the surge from the country was based on the Organisation belief on the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), position that fighting corruption is a global concern because it’s found in both rich and poor countries, though poor people are the ones that suffer the most.
“Fighting corruption is one of the three cardinal agenda of the federal government of Nigeria.
The others are the economy and security.
However, the government cannot succeed in its effort to secure the country and reposition the economy without a successful fight against corruption to delegitimize it and make it unpopular among Nigerians.
“The anti-corruption match will be part of the efforts to raise awareness on the fight against corruption and to mobilize all stakeholders in the Nigerian project to key into the fight.
“It is being organised as part of activities to commemorate the International anti-corruption day which will fall on Sunday December 9th 2018,” Abi said.
She added that it was also to carry the people along in the fight against corruption and to raise their awareness on the dangers of corruption and elicit their support.
The Charity football match, according to her, will help to underscore the seriousness of the government in the war against corruption and help to galvanise public officers and the general public to key into it.
“Mobilize the populace to act against corruption by saying no and refuse to participate in activities that are not legal and transparent and support efforts to eradicate it.
Rooting out corruption allows social and economic development,” Abi said.
She said a transparent and open business community is the cornerstone of any strong democracy and economy.
