Anambra: YPP unseats APGA, defeats PDP, others to win 2 Reps seats in rerun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sunday, declared the candidates of Young Progressive Party (YPP) as winners of the two Federal House of Representatives seats whose rerun were held in Anambra state on Saturday.

The YPP candidate for Orumba North and Orumba South federal constituency, Hon. Chinwe Nnabuife, polled a total of 14416 votes to defeat her counterpart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Okwudili Ezenwankwo, who garnered 13087 votes.

Similarly, Hon. Peter Uzokwe of the YPP polled 25,518 votes to dislodge the candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Clement Eleodimmou who got 25,412 votes.

Rerun was held at 16 polling units with 161,914 votes in Nanka, Orumba North LGA to determine the winner of Orumba North and Orumba South federal constituency, and at 5 polling units with 97,438 votes in Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA to ascertain the occupant of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

The Court of Appeal had ordered a rerun into the two federal constituencies after annulling the victory of Nnabuife of YPP and Eleodimmou of APGA as earlier pronounced by the INEC in the February 2023 general election.
