Anambra: Police gun down suspected kidnapper, arrest 2  

Anambra state Police Command, Sunday, said  operatives have killed a suspected kidnapper and rescued a kidnapped victim with the name, Mr. Abuchi (Surname withheld), a native of Orumba South LGA.

The police stated this through the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga.

 He said the incident occurred at an uncompleted building in Obosi community, Idemili North LGA.

Ikenga said the operatives carried out the operation following a tip off from some residents of the community, even as they also arrested some of the kidnappers while others fled at about 7.30 p.m. on 9th September, 2023.

“The public-spirited citizens pointed to police the direction the kidnappers went after seizing their victim. The Police then trailed the kidnappers to an uncompleted building surrounded by bush in Umuota village, Obosi, where a gunfire exchange with the kidnappers ensued.

“One of the hoodlums was shot and arrested, while others escaped, some with bullet wounds. One double barrel pistol and two live and one expended cartridge were recovered from the gang. The arrested suspect gave his name as Nwasu Ikenna from Obosi. He identified those who escaped as Ebuka, a.k.a Big; Chinedu Emmanuel and Chukwu Ojoto.
