American varsity president vows support for Kano education

President Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has expressed determination to support the education sector in Kano by extending his philanthropism to building schools in need of renovation and equipping same with state-of-the-art facilities.

Speaking at the formal hand over of Urban Nurul Islam Primary and Junior Secondary School, Hotoro, which he built at the cost of N11 million, Gwarzo said the education sector was an exceptional sector he was holding dear and accorded top priority.

According to him, he is willing to expend resources on transforming the sector to greater heights.

Gwarzo, who was represented by his Aide, Alhaji Yunusa Umar, stated that he was also willing to continue with the renovation of the school for better and quality education to be ensured.

He affirmed that no amount of contribution was too little in turning around the fortune of education in Kano.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Parent-Teacher Association, Alhaji  Muhammadu Sani Koguna, said the gesture had demonstrated the resilience and commitment of the University President for conceiving the “laudable idea,” adding that the effort had cone at a time when such intervention was most needed.
