President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio , Senator Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, three senators and five members of the House of Representatives are currently in Luanda, capital of Angola, for the 147th inter-parliamentary union (IPU) assembly.
Reacting to the development, Gombe elders have extended their appreciation to Senator Dankwambo, who represents Gombe North, for being part of the delegation from the 10th National Assembly, representing the 109 senators and the people of Nigeria at the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
The IPU Assembly is a global organization of parliaments from around the world, uniting lawmakers to address international challenges and propose actionable solutions.
In a statement issued by its coordinator, Alhaji Junaidu Usman, said the event would served as a platform for Senator Dankwambo and his colleagues to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborations with parliamentarians from various countries, thereby promoting international cooperation and mutual understanding.
“We, the residents of Gombe North, are delighted to witness Senator Dankwambo’s competence, experience, and dedication transcending Nigeria’s borders.
“We thank you, Senator Dankwambo, for your admirable representation.”
He noted that this event aimed to enhance the relationship between the Nigerian National Assembly and other assemblies worldwide, promoting development not only in Nigeria but also in other underserved countries in Africa.
The Senate delegation, led by the Senate President of the 10th Assembly, His Excellency Senator Godwin Akpabio, showcased Nigeria’s positive image through their presentation at the event.
The second day at IPU147 in Angola was bustling with delegates and stakeholders immersed in discussions regarding the strengthening of the global health architecture, with a focus on the work of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB).
The objective is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Pandemic Accord’s key components, scope, potential implications, and benefits, and we have every confidence that Senator Dankwambo will represent Nigeria admirably.
