Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has said that for Africa to compete globally in advanced technology there is need to pay special attention to Artificial Intelligent (AI).
Nnaji stated this when Glisten International Academy Abuja, led by its Chief Executive, Dr. Samira Jibir paid him a courtesy visit.
According to the Minister, the world is in the era of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligent, Medical learning and biometrics adding that, this newly invented medical robot Mairabot by the Academy, is a great innovation capable of benefiting to the continent and the world at large.
Education, he said, “is a legacy that should be bequeathed to our children for future benefits.” Adding that, parents should encourage their children to leverage on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in order to achieve their dreams.
The Minister emphasized “going as far as Dallas for competition in the world best robotic and coming in tall, in Africa out of the African countries that participated is commendable.”
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. James Sule, said that the Ministry is ready to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that Mairabot technology is incorporated into school’s curriculum.
Earlier, the Chief Executive of Glisten International Academy, Dr. Samira Jibir said the Academy is a 21st century school dedicated to raising nation builders who will be of values to themselves and the country.
Jibir noted that the school is technology driven, which is to learn, teach, deploy and live technology.
She revealed that Mairobot was developed and invented by Students of Glisten International Academy Abuja, a cutting edge technology, highly intelligent robot capable of performing tasks such as taking temperature, administering drugs and interacting with patients via a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Screen.
To this development, she expressed her gratitude to the ministry for supporting the school during the Covid-19 Pandemic when the students invented a Humanoid robot named Mairobot.
