Africa Water Week, opportunity for ideas – Minister

Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Reng Ochekpe, has described the exhibition of water facilities during the Africa Water Week as an opportunity for the participating counties to share knowledge, information and ideas about the best practices in the management of water facilities.
Commenting on the event, the deputy director, press and public relations unit of the ministry, Mrs Boade Akinola, said the exhibitions was to show practically what is happening in the different country of Africa, concerted efforts has been made on the best practices of water management in the cities across Africa.

She said water dealt with totality of human life while proposing that water goal that is broad based should be considered.
She said “in trying to get a goal in the post MDGs, I want to propose that we should get water goal that is broad based and takes care of the different aspect of our water as regard to our existence”.

“Water is cross cutting in all sphere of lives, it has impact on food security, energy, environmental sustainability, industrial development as well as physical coexistence, but different part of the World have different peculiarities in terms of their relationship with water, so I think that what we need to pay attention on is the targets that will address the peculiarity need in the different part of the world, she added.
