Adamawa’s complex and complicated politics

It looks and sounds good when you see all the bigwig politicians coming together under the same umbrella, working tirelessly to move Adamawa state to a greater heights. But it’s also disheartening when it comes to elections where most of them will get separated because of their selfish political gains.

We can recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state failed to settle their differences as a result of injustice perpetrated by some gullible members in the state which consequently, forced some of them to defect to ADC and PDP, respectively.

But when people like Sen Aziz Nyako, Bindow, Modi Halihu, Nuhu Ridau, Sen Abbo Clif, and even the political grandmaster like Baba Maigoro formed yet another political merger in Adamawa state, one is bound to understand that the movement will be stronger than we could ever imagine.

Aziz Nyako being the most influential young politician in the state has a lot to contribute to the brand new movement, because the gentleman has shown that youths have every right to get involved and fully participate in politics. The fact that a mammoth crowd came out and voted for him in his last governorship bid explains that the gentleman is equal to the task and has the capacity to deliver.

Sen Abbo, whom some consider his defection as a political miscalculation, might possibly have reasons behind that. His utterances and claims to the serving governor show some kind of disrespect and also the sex toy allegation against the senator, a story that went viral on social media, has painted him black in the eyes of the public.

The Nuhu Ridabu’s faction are very active, strong and must form the integral part of the APC. Those people remain firm and steadfast with the party through thick and thin.

However, Senator Binani is also doing wonders and might possibly seek reelection. And I doubt if among the strong decampees no one will also contest for the same central senatorial seat.

Though, with great political grand masters, like Baba Maigoro and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in their midst, things will possibly go well with the party if these politicians listen to the great men with open eyes and minds.

For PDP, unlike during Bindow’s regime, the ruling party has a lot of physical projects to show and depend on and even campaign for. Despite the great achievements they are recording ranging from workers’ welfare, education, to infrastructure.

The incumbent governor Fintiri is recording giant strides, doing anything humanly possible in providing security and welfare of Adamawa state citizens.

Therefore, if truly the aforementioned APC members and the new decampees can work and coordinate with one another, the ruling PDP might find it difficult to maintain their political seats. But is that possible?

All we need to see is Adamawa state of our dream, a state with full realisation of infrastructural, socio-political and economic development; a state where the youth and women can be empowered, jobs can be created to reduce and reduce the high level of unemployment we are battling with.
