Adamawa police to deploy 5000 officers for LG poll

Ahead of Saturday local government election, the Adamawa state Police Command has assured the people of their readiness to ensure hitch-free exercise throughout the state. 

Addressing journalists Tuesday in his office over the command preparedness for the election, the state Commissioner of Police CP Audu said no fewer than 5000 police officers would be deployed to all the nooks and crannies of the state to man various polling units in the state. 

He also explained that, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCD) among other security agencies in the state, would also sent their personnel to compliment the efforts of the police to ensure adequate security during the exercise.

He assured the public that there would be no cause for alarm as they have make adequate preparations by putting in place adequate strategies to ensure that the election would be conducted peacefully.  

He advised the candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid anything capable of threatening the peace in the state, adding that anyone caught breaking the law would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law. 

Also, he noted said the command had invited the candidates and leaderships of various political parties that would participate in the election and officials of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) for a round table discussion on how to ensure a successful exercise in the state.
