Adamawa gov urges proactive measures on Boko Haram

Spurred by the recent spate of bombings which led to loss of lives, the Adamawa state Governor, Sen. Muhammadu Bindow Jibrilla, yesterday called for proactive measures, saying northern states “governors will meet with a view to finding proactive end to the scourge.”
He urged Nigerians to hold onto prayers to end the insurgency plaguing the country.
Speaking in Yola after an enlarged state security meeting, Bindow sympathised with the direct victims of Potiskum, Jos, Kano, Zaria and Borno bomb blasts and prayed Allah to grant the souls of the deceased peaceful repose.

He condemned the attack, saying it was an inhuman act of terror, and urged the people as a whole to be vigilant, even as they preserve the peace. The governor said residents should promptly report all suspicious persons and activities to the security agencies and community leaders.
He harped on the need for Nigerians not to despair as the government was very much concerned and was working to tackle the situation.

He said: “Our President is someone with security background; with the necessary experience to tackle the challenges. We need to continue to pray and support our leaders and security operatives to overcome the problem.”
On federal government’s salary bailout to states, Jibrilla hailed the gesture saying it would go a long way in solving the salary crisis facing the states.
“The money is for workers and will be use for the purpose intended.”
