Yola Local vigilantes have arrested a 20 -year-old teenager for allegedly raping a three -yearold girl in Yola South local government area of Adamawa state. A local vigilante, who simply identified himself as Muhammadu Babayola, said that, “It has happened at Sabon Pegi, an extension of Shagari Low-cost Housing unit in Yola.
“A teenager of about 20 years old, from a neighbouring house, was sent by certain parents to bring their daughter from a playand -learn school back home. The person who was initially contracted for the job was said to have given excuse for a day off due to some pressing problems.
“And in the process of taking her back home, he raped her; already, he was handed over to security for interrogation,’’ he said. Also confirming, another resident of Yola, Adamu Dodo said, ‘’ The neonate was about half and two years old. She was however raped by the teenager who went beyond what he was being entrusted to do; to take the helpless neonate back home from school.
When contacted, the state Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Baba, said the incident was under investigation. “We heard of the incident but I am yet to get details for now, as it’s being investigated, after which the culprit will be prosecuted,’’ Baba added.
