Accommodation: Abuja corps members moved to Suleja

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been moved into Suleja over what was referred to as  “excessive accommodation costs in the territory.”
Speaking with Blueprint, a Batch ‘B’ corps member, Ms Janet Okroduwa, said the high costs of transportation and accommodation in Abuja was one of the biggest challenges the corps members faced daily.

She said it was the reason she and many of her colleagues had “to come to Suleja and stay.”
Asked to suggest what should be done to alleviate their sufferings, she said an increase in the monthly allowances of corps members in the territory would help a great deal.

Also speaking, a Batch C corps member, Mr Henry Unah, said: “We appeal to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Mohammed Bala, to build a Corps Members’ Lodge so that we can live in it and move out for the next batch of corps members.”
He added that “the existing Lodge in Nyanya provides the roof for only a small number of people; we, therefore, call for the intervention of government to reduce this trouble for us.”
