Abia distributes laptops to 216 schools

The Abia state government has distributed a total of 1778 computer laptops to 216 secondary schools in the state to ensure that students in the state’s owned institutions are Information and Computer Technology compliant.
The state government also distributed over two million exercise books to all the primary schools in the 17 local government areas of the state.

Speaking in Umuahia while distributing the items to all the secondary schools and primary schools in the state, the state governor, Chief Theodore Orji said the gesture was to enable the school children remain current in science in the primary schools. He further stated that his administration is determined to invest more in the education sector and advised parents and guardians to ensure they send their children and wards to school.

“The world is now in the era of science and technology and the state cannot be found wanting when others are already ahead. This is the reason behind the state government’s purchase of the  computers for the students”, he said, noting that the government’s investment in the education sector is yielding dividends “With the quality of school graduates that are coming out of the schools every year, which have made the students to win laurels in various competitions across the federation and outside.”

Orji  observed that students from the state has made the state proud in various competitions,  explaining that the state government has restructured the bursary system to accommodate both students at  home and in the Diaspora to enable them assess the funds to help in their educational pursuit.
