98 get N1.9m MEES facility in Plateau

The Director-General National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Malam Nuhu Fikpo, has enjoined 98 beneficiaries of the Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme (MEES) in Plateau state to judiciously utilise the fund for self employment and wealth creation.

The DG made the call, Friday, while disbursing the MEES loan to the beneficiaries at the state office of NDE, in Jos.

Represented by the state coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Dimka, Fikpo said the implementation of the scheme, under the small scale enterprises department, would not have been possible without the support and approval of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, who had been passionate about job creation, particularly amongst women and youth.

He said the 98 beneficiaries were carefully drawn from across the LGs that made up Plateau state.

“Under this scheme, the 98 beneficiaries will be provided with facilities (loan) that will enable them set up and manage medium scale enterprises in their chosen areas of interest, to become self-reliant, create wealth and generate employment opportunities for others.

“You should, therefore, justify these efforts in utilising the facility by putting in your best to succeed as micro entrepreneurs,” he implored the beneficiaries.

The NDE Head of Department for SSE, Mr Victor Otukpa, tasked the beneficiaries on the need for seriousness and prudence in pursuing their businesses.

Ms Nendirmwa Kefas, on behalf of all beneficiaries, appreciated the NDE for the laudable programme initiative.
