44 students’ bag summer as UNN graduates 5,121

Vice Chancellor University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Professor Bartholomew Okolo,  has said the lack of research in the universities has made Nigerian Universities poor, and they will continue to remain financially poor, saying that government alone cannot finance our institutions.

Okolo who disclosed this at a press briefing on the activities marking the 43rd convocation ceremony of the university which started Monday 24th of March, insisted that research drives the financial power of institutions around the world.
He said UNN under his administration attracted millions of dollar and equipments which according to him assisted his administration to finance some many infrastructures under various stages of complication.

The VC also announced that a total of 7,989 degrees and diplomas of the university will be awarded at the 43rd convocation ceremony. This comprises 5,121 first degrees/diplomas and 2,868 higher degrees.
The breakdown shows that of 5,121 that graduate for first degrees/diplomas, 44 students will graduate with summer.
