22- year-old man escapes lynching in Jigawa

A 22-year-old car snatcher, Surajo Husseini, Wednesday narrowly escaped being lynched by angry mob at Yargaba village, in Dutse local government area of Jigawa state.

The 22- year- old man snatched a car belonging to one Alhaji Usman Aliyu Kandi who was busy repairing street light on the fly-over at Suwarin town of Kiyawa local government area of the state.

This, according to the state Commandant of Hisba, Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru Garki, happened over the weekend.

While busy repairing the street light, the young man broke into the car, snatched it and moved towards Kano with the intention of selling it to his allied customers.

On approaching Yargaba village, he sighted a group of people blocking part of the road. Unfortunately, the car snatcher though the information has reached everywhere for his arrest.

The Hisba man said: “The car snatcher matched the brake and immediately put the car on reverse gear where he hit a tree and the back wheel of the car busted leading to his arrest by officials in the local market.

“On noticing the young man was a car snatcher, the angry mob took different types of objects including sticks and stones but was saved by the Hisba officials in the market”, he said.

The Hisba officials handed the young man over to the police for further investigation.
