2023 presidency: Chukwuma urges Ndigbo to support Igbo

Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Dr  Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma, has called on all Igbo men and  women to support an Igbo man to be president of Nigeria  come 2023.

“If an Igbo man becomes the president of Nigeria, everybody should support him,” he urges pointing out that with unity, the nation will achieve greatness.

Chukwuma who is also the archbishop of Enugu ecclesiastical province, called on the ministers of God to care for their members, pointing out that Jesus enjoined the apostles to feed the sheep and not to feed on the sheep.

The clergyman  gave the charge at a church service to mark his 66th birthday at the Good Shepherd Cathedral, Enugu, Wednesday and  lamented that most men of God are ripping off their converts instead of helping them grow spiritually.

He said he was not materialistic because if  he was, he would have amassed wealth which is not the focus of the gospel.

“Jesus enjoined his disciples to feed the sheep not to feed on the sheep.  Let’s be concerned about our members.

“If I had wanted to build houses in Enugu, I would have built many mansions, but I don’t have any.  It was God that called me, not man and for that reason, I am doing the will of God that called me.

“I charge us all to care for our members just as Jesus urged his disciples to feed the sheep,” he said.

To prove that he was not ambitious to be in a position of authority or to acquire wealth, he said he never even wanted to be a bishop when he was called to be ordained a bishop at the age of 36. But because God called him, he had to accept.

“I didn’t want to be bishop at the age of 36, but God spoke to me that I am his beloved servant.

“I have suffered.  I would have been primate by now, but because of my outspokenness, I was not given the opportunity, but I am not worried,” he said.
