2023: Group flays alleged killings in S’East by herders, says elections mustn’t hold

An Igbo pressure group, Voice from the East, VEAST, has condemned killings in many communities in Igbo land allegedly by the marauding Fulani herdsmen, especially, in Enugu state in recent time.

For this reason, the Convener of VEAST, Comrade Kindness Jonah, in an emotion-laden interview with our correspondent on the spate of killings and kidnappings in the South East geo-political zone, said that there should be no election come 2023.

He said instead, people should arm and protect themselves from what he termed ‘islamisation agenda of the Fulani.”

Jonah who vehemently condemned the killing of natives in Eha Amufu in Isi-Uzo and Igbo Eze North local government areas by the Fulanis, said that rather than any Igbo to go out to vote in the forthcoming polls, they should rather move into the forests to flush the Fulanis.

His words: “No Igbo man should vote anybody in the forthcoming elections. Every Igbo man should arm and protect himself from the marauding Fulani.

“Every Igbo man should support Sunday Ekpa and Nnamdi Kanu.  No Igbo man should obey Nigerian laws.  Every Igbo man should get up and enter the forests to flush out the Fulanis.  The Fulani should be declared full blown enemies.

“Let us guard our areas. Nobody should vote anybody. Rather than vote anybody, we should guard ourselves.  Instead of voting, we should arm ourselves to engage the Fulani against Islamisation,” Jonah opines.

Jonah, in condemning the killings by the Fulani in Igbo communities indicted the security agencies for complicity and equally condemned the Igbo governors especially Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

“Without mincing words, the spate of killing of the Igbos by Fulani in tacit support of the military, army, police, air Force, Navy, in tacit support of the Sultanate of Sokoto, is very disheartening.

“I have no other words to qualify the callousness other than to say that the Fulanis have waged a full scale war against the Igbo race.  More than 100 hundred villagers in Eha Amufu, in Isi-Uzo and Enugu Ezike in Igbo Eze North local government areas have been wiped out by the Fulanis.

“And to add salt to injury, the Nigerian Air Force is going round, hovering over Enugu State, detecting to know where the people are gathering to condemn the killings so that they will go and arrest them.

“The worst part is that the Nigerian military went and arrested the women who were demonstrating against the killings by the Fulanis.  The Nigerian Army went there and arrested them.  So, the Igbo man is now left with nothing.  We do not have governors again in Igboland.

“It is unfortunate that a governor that is answering executive governor went there and gave money to the people.  He never condemned the killings. He never opened his mouth to condemn what the Fulanis are doing.

“He never mobilised anybody to kill the Fulanis in the forest but instead started sharing money. That is what Governor Ugwuanyi went there and did shamelessly. I have no words to qualify anybody in this issue of callousness”, Comrade Jonah said.
