2023: Be positive, put Nigeria first, NFBA tells politicians

Following the outcome of the February 25, 2023 presidential election, a group on the platform of Nigerians for Bold Action (NFBA) has called on politicians, particularly those of the opposition political parties, to put Nigeria over and above other considerations.

Briefing the press in Abuja at the weekend, the group’s national chairman, Engr. Toofeek Ayinde, appealed for calm from aggrieved politicians, arguing that even though the outcome of the elections may not have met the desires and aspirations of some people, they should not take laws into their hands by causing mayhem.

He observed that amid few cases of imperfection, the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was an improvement on the previous methods adopted for previous elections in the country and should be applauded.

On his part, Senator Adelere Oriolowo appealed to politicians across board to eschew violence and bad blood, lamenting that the greatest danger to political advancement in the country is the infighting and conflicts rocking political parties.

He described as unhealthy inter and intra- party rivalries arising from factional groups with same political parties.

In his words: “Even though I lost at the primary election in my party, it did not stop me from supporting the man that defeated me.”

He condemned in particular the infighting within the APC family in Osun state, which gave advantage to the opposition PDP in the last governorship election.

Senator Adelere Oriolowo therefore called on all actors in the APC to see themselves as friends and members of one big family even as he called on Nigerians to support the president- elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and elected National Assembly members across party divides.
