2023: APC heading to the rocks – Okorocha

Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC), might face heavy setback in 2023 following what he described as “moves by the National Chairman of the Party, Adams Oshiomhole to turn the ruling party into a regional minority party”.

Speaking toJournalists on Monday after he held a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, Okorocha who is also the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum accused the APC National chairman of undermining the principles of internal democracy by supporting the imposition of unpopular candidates in the Party.

The Imo State governor said he has been vindicated by the outcome of the recently concluded governorship election in the state where the candidate of his party lost.

Okorocha however, faulted INEC on declaring the PDP candidate Emeka Ihedioha winner of the Imo governorship poll, claiming that the Governor-elect did not fulfil all the constitutional requirements to have emerged victorious as announced by the electoral umpire.

On INEC’s decision to withhold his certificate of return having been declared winner of the Imo West Senatorial district election, Governor Okorocha says he is patiently waiting for the commission to do the right thing, insisting that the Resident Electoral Commissioner has not been able to prove that he declared the result under duress as claimed in his petition to INEC.

Okorocha told reporters that he was in the villa to invite President Buhari to commission several Federal Government Projects executed by the Imo state government under his administration.
