2021 pilgrimage: NCPC boss Pam visits Holy Sites in Jordan

The executive secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has declared that the Commission was ready to explore new Holy Sites around the world.

He made the declaration recently during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in Amman, Jordan, saying that the Commission has come to Jordan on a state-of-readiness and exploration visit.

“We came to explore Holy Sites and we will need your maximum cooperation to make it a reality. President Muhammad Buhari has given the Commission an approval to explore the Holy Sites in Jordan.

“The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission is a body that is saddled with the responsibility of taking intending pilgrims to Holy Lands around the world. The Commission coordinates the activities of intending pilgrims from Nigeria to any Holy Site around the world including Israel, Greece, Rome and Jordan,” he said.

Rev. Pam said further that the Commission “must ensure the safety of every Nigerian pilgrim” and, therefore, solicited the support of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities to facilitate the procurement of visas for intending pilgrims “because it is crucial to the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage exercise.”

Responding, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Hmeidi Al-Fayez, who was represented by the managing director, Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, gave the assurance that the people of Jordan were peaceful and hospitable.

“In terms of security, I want to assure you that Jordan is very safe for visitors. I will ensure that the issue of visas is looked into as the outcome will be both favourable to Nigeria and Jordan. We will give the Commission the cooperation required as both countries have a good relationship with each other,” he said.
