Th e National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie, yesterday said the party will sweep south east geopolitical zone to prove that it is a true their party. Okorie stated this in Abakaliki, during the inauguration of Ebonyi state offi ce of the party located in Oroke Onuoha, Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state. He noted that the people of the country were tired of the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party because of their inability to deliver democracy dividends to the people. Represented by Ebizie Ndubueze Andrew, the Assistant National Secretary south east zone of the party, Okorie noted that UPP was the only the party that will deliver the people from the shackles and burns of the APC and PDP.
“PDP has been in power for 16 years and they have off ered the south east and the Igbos nothing and we need a change and that change is not APC that has worsened the people’s suff ering. Th at change is the UPP. In 2019, we will deliver the real and not fake change to the people of the zone”, he said. He boasted that the party will teach APGA a political lesson and prove that it is a party with the welfare of the people at heart by capturing Anambra in the November 18 governorship election. Okorie explained that the party supports Biafra because of injustice meted on the people of the zone and called on the people to embrace UPP. In his remarks, the state Chairman of the party Deacon Pius Inya said the party will move into the grassroots, mobilize and sensitize the people of the state as part of its strategy to capture the state in 2019.
