Nasarawa speaker meets 13 LG chairmen on insecurity

The speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Danladi Jatau, Monday, met with chairmen of the 13 local government areas of the state in order to find lasting solution to security challenges in the state.

While addressing the LG chairmen in his office in Lafia, the speaker said he was directed by Governor Abdullahi Sule to discuss with them on how to find solutions to the security challenges facing their local government areas.

He said before now, the state had been enjoying relative peace, but  insecurity challenges such as kidnapping, communal clashes, armed robbery among other social vices has increased recently.

He  called on the chairmen  to collectively discuss how to find solutions to security challenges across Nasarawa.

“I was given the mandate by Governor Abdullahi Sule when he called us for state security meeting on 15th of this month,” he said.

He commended Governor Sule for his proactive steps in tackling insecurity and promoting peace.

“Governor  Sule is a man of peace and is working hard to ensure that people enjoy peace in the state as no development can take place without peace,” he said.

The speaker called on the people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of their affiliations.

Responding, the state Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and chairman Lafia local government area, Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, appreciated the House for the good relationship between them.
