Zamfara constructs 350-km township roads

Zamfara state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has constructed about 350 kilometers of township roads across the 14 local government areas of the state. The State Commissioner of Information, Hon. Sanda Mohammed Danjari, who disclosed this during a media tour of the state, by a delegation from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) revealed that “the state government decided to construct 25 kilometers township road in every local government area. Most of the roads today have been completed, while a few others a still under construction. He revealed that when Governor Abdulaziz Yari took over, it was difficult to move around most of the towns in the 14 local government areas.
As such, the government decided to invest heavily on road construction to make life easy for the inhabitants. During the tour, the tour guide who doubles as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Communication and Media, Ibrahim Dosara, made it known that, “the governor inherited about N55 billion debt incurred by past administrations, aside from dilapidated structures, especially education, health and economy, which made life difficult for the people. “Governor Abdulaziz Yari was able to construct most the township and still embark on other projects, because he was able to instill effective financial discipline in the state.
The governor does not award contracts unless there is money in the state treasury to complete such contract. “Aside quality roads in all the local government areas in Zamfara, the state government also decided to construct at least one fire service station in all the local government areas.
This is because when we came on board there was no fi re service station in the whole state, he said. Blueprint confirmed that 8 of the fire service stations were already completed and fully equipped while the remaining ones were under construction. While speaking with Blueprint, Mubarak Salihu commended the effort of the state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, for investing in the infrastructural facilities of the state. According to him, “before the coming of the governor, our roads were not motorable. We used other means of transportation like donkey, horses and camel but now, the state government has constructed many roads across the state. We are now very comfortable
