Zamfara APC chieftain resists arrest by the police

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara Alhaji Sani Gwamna Mayanchi has on Saturday escaped been arrested by the police in Gusau the state capital after a serious clash between irate APC youths and the police.

Briefing newsmen about the development, Sani Gwamna accused governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle by using the police attached to the Government House to arrest some APC members in the state.

“You could recalled that, last week, two former commissioners who are the members of our great party, the opposition party in the state in persons of Alhaji Ibrahim Maigandi and Alhaji Bello Dankande were arrested by the police attached to government house in their respective residences and were dragged to court in which the court remanded them in prison custody.

“Arresting some of our members by the state government without a genuine arrest warrant letter is totally unconstitutional and illegal, so we are calling on the governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle to followed the ambits of the law as we shall not condone such kind of threatening what soever “. Sani Gwamna stated.

According to him, APC in the state will not fold its arms and watch the government do something wrong without expressing their views.

“As we are in a democratic set up, nobody can stop them from organizing their political meeting in the state and I am calling on Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle and state commissioner of police to do the rightful and needful instead of making what he described illegal and unconstitutional arrest and detention of APC members”. Sani Gwamna contended.
